The Bouncing Souls – We Love Fun (unofficial Nintendo Fun Club theme song)
On April 6th and 7th, the Rockford aRt.cade held an event with Fotoenvy Studios in downtown Rockford, IL. The event featured pieces from 12 artists, including Brett Fiedler, Kirk Dyreson, Raven Johnson, John Sullivan, Erin Hall, Holli Funke, Scott Lawless, Joseph Goral, and Mario Kayo Martinez. All of the pieces in the show were based on video game properties, many of which originally featured on Nintendo systems.
Issue 2 of our Nintendo zine is available to download, for free, right here!!
Fun Factor! Issue 2(left-click link to view in your browser or right-click, then “save link as…” to download!)
This issue’s cover story features the past, present, and future of Dungeons & Dragons games on Nintendo systems. Also in the issue: a look at the best Neo Geo games on Virtual Console, a retrospective on Chibi-Robo!, a local video game art show John attended, and WAY MORE. It’s a .pdf, so you can read it on your Mac/PC, iPad, Kindle Fire, phone, or whatever other .pdf-reading gadget you have!
As you may or may not know, the Nintendo Fun Club crew is based out of Northern Illinois (2/3 of us are in Rockford, while our more cosmopolitan leader lives just outside of Chicago). An art gallery in downtown Rockford, Fotoenvy Studios, is putting on a show this weekend dedicated to video game art and it should be rad! More information can be found here, and it sounds like the show will feature video game-inspired art by local artists, video game music, and some games available to play too. Check it out if you’re in the area. If not, we’ll hopefully post some pics up on the blog next week.
